Permits requiring review takes a minimum of 2 weeks for approval.

Effective May 13, 2026 all fees including permits and contractor registration have increased. 

No plumbing inspection requests for the next working day will be accepted after 4pm.

Inspections are required for all permits. If inspections are not performed citations may be issued. 

When emailing the Building Department about permits the permit number or property address must be included in the email. 

All inspection requests must be called into the Building Department. Inspection requests made via email will not be accepted.

A permit is required for the reinstallation of solar panels when they are removed for a roof replacement. 

The Business License and Business Operation Certificate applications are for new businesses only. Renewals are not done through this portal.

Please communicate with your contractor or client to determine if a permit application has been started. Refunds will not be given when multiple permits are obtained. 

The Village of Homewood follows the 2018 ICC codes, the 2017 NEC, the 2014 Illinois Plumbing code, all with local amendments, and the Illinois Accessability Code.
